In regards to the accident that took place in SPC’s subsidiary last month, SPC held the ‘Safety Management Proclamation Ceremony’ at its headquarters in Yang-jae, Seoul on 4th January to declare a firm will and concrete vision for transformation.

 

After the occurrence of the incident, as a result of the safety inspection from the external expert organizations and the supervision of the Ministry of Labor, immediate actions were taken and reforms such as the foundation of the Safety Management Committee, Work Condition Improvement Task Force and Work Culture Reformation Task Force were witnessed, which laid the foundation for safety management. Through the Proclamation Ceremony, SPC revealed its will to be completely reborn.

SPC’s Resolve to Implement Safety Management at the Safety Management Proclamation Ceremony.

 

Safety diagnosis progress review, safety diagnosis results and suggestions taking place at the ‘Safety Management Proclamation Ceremony’

 

Presidents of each subsidiary, union leaders, franchisee union heads and staff members participated in the Proclamation Ceremony. The progress of the Safety Management Committee formed on November 2022 was examined, and the experts’ proposal on the safety diagnosis of all the factories around the country conducted by external experts was taken into account.

 

Firstly, Yoo Seung-hwan, executive director of the Safety Management Office, explained the progress of the Safety Management Committee’s activities, followed by the launching and operation of the Work Environment Improvement Task Force and Work Culture Reformation Task Force.

 

At the Proclamation Ceremony, Kim Young-deok, technical director of the Korea Safety Association, thoroughly analyzed the safety diagnosis of all the domestic factories. He proposed the expansion of industrial safety and enhancement of the work environment.

 
 

Expansion of Safety Culture; SPC’s ESG+S Management

Through the Proclamation Ceremony, SPC presented a safety management vision and strategy system. The Industrial Safety Establishment Subcommittee plans to push for a global safety standard certification, establish a health and safety management system and build an IT system for safety. In addition, SPC plans to expand the safety management organization and manpower, conduct joint labor-management safety inspections on a quarterly basis, identify harmful and risk factors within the workplace, and implement a ‘Self Prevention System’ that will carry out improvement measures.

 

The Work Condition Improvement Subcommittee plans to reform the shift system through the Work Condition Improvement Task Force, which was launched with the labor union last year, and expand investments in automation for hazardous equipment. SPC has also decided to make efforts to strengthen the worker’s right to rest and health. In order to support work-life balance, we seek to improve employee welfare by preparing various family-friendly systems through the Work Culture Innovation Task Force.

 

The Social Responsibility Execution Subcommittee aims to more actively communicate with the interested parties, strengthen relief activities for disasters, and expand the campaign for safety culture by adding an ‘S’ for ‘Safety’ in the ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) management making it ‘ESG+S’ Management unique to the SPC Group.

 

Through the Proclamation Ceremony, the Safety Management Committee President, Jeong Gap-yeong showed SPC’s commitment to safety management, requesting all the staff members to make efforts for firm safety management in all the factories.

 
Through the declaration, SPC pledged to prevent industrial accidents, maintain and promote worker safety, improve and develop the working environment, and practice corporate social responsibility. Park Gap-yong, the chairman of Paris Croissant, also said, “Through the Safety Management Proclamation Ceremony, we will create a safer and happier workplace so that workers and management can overcome difficulties together.”
