SPC Group Delivers Two Billion Won SPC Happy Fund to Help Children with Disabilities
SEOUL, KOREA – SPC Group held the SPC Happy Fund ceremony to support children with disabilities from low-income families at the Purme Foundation in Jongno-gu, Seoul on 19th April.
SPC Happy Fund is a donation program started in 2012 through which SPC Group employees voluntarily donate a set amount from their monthly wages and the company raises a matching fund.
The total amount raised this year from the fund is 200 million won. Over the last ten years, SPC Group has donated some 2 billion won in total to help approximately 1,200 children with disabilities and their families.
The fund is donated to the Purme Foundation, a non-profit foundation helping rehabilitation and self-reliance of people with disabilities, and will be used in rehabilitation therapy, medical treatment, treatment aid, and special aptitude education for children with disabilities.
With the National Day of Persons with Disabilities due on April 20, SPC Group President Hwang Jae-bok and the Purme Foundation Chairperson Kang Ji-won attended the ceremony.
“SPC Group’s support over the last decade has enabled many children with disabilities to receive rehabilitation therapy and prepare for their future,” said the Purme Foundation Chairperson Kang Ji-won. “The beautiful act of sharing demonstrated by SPC Group and its employees gives hope to children with disabilities and their families and also sets an example for the sharing culture in our society.”
“SPC Happy Fund could be continuously raised thanks to the charitable and enthusiastic contribution of employees to help the neglected neighbors,” said SPC Group President Hwang Jae-bok. “We will continue to fulfill our social responsibilities with our employees.”
