SPC is supporting Busan’s bid to host the World EXPO 2030 Busan. Ahead of BIE (Bureau International des Expositions)’s visit to Busan, SPC participated in Light it UP EXPO: the event held in support of Busan’s wish to host the World Expo 2030 Busan. This event, which was held for 5 days from March 30 to April 3 at Gwanghwamun Square, had various events to facilitate the participation of citizens. Korea’s bid to host the World EXPO 2030 Busan
The World Expo is one of the world’s three major international events, along with the Olympics and World Cup. It is a platform for global dialogue that showcases a country’s scientific, technological, and cultural achievements and exchanges future development and prospects. Hosting the World EXPO 2030 Busan is a great opportunity to publicize the status of Korea to the world, so it would fulfill a great wish of the Korean people.
If the expo is held in Korea, Korea will only be the 7th country in the world to host all three mega-events: World Expo, the Olympics, and the World Cup. As such, Korea can enhance its image and status as a country in the international community, as well as promote various international exchanges and trade. The economic value of hosting the expo is estimated to be 43 trillion won in balanced national development and production inducement effect, 18 trillion won in value-added inducement effect, and production of 500,000 jobs. In addition, various campaigns, to be held as a part of the preparation for the expo, will raise civic awareness, revitalize the local economy, increase local brand value, promote tourism, and raise the level of awareness among local residents. Close exchanges with various countries in Busan are expected to have a positive effect on South Korea’s leap as a global pivot.
SPC’s Make a Wish Booth Assimilates the Wish of Hosting the World EXPO 2030 Busan
SPC’s Make a Wish Booth personifies the wish to host World EXPO 2030 Busan and customers’ wishes for happiness
At the Light it UP EXPO, SPC operated a booth with the concept of ‘Make a Wish’ to hope for customers’ happiness and success in bidding for the World EXPO 2030 Busan. Make a Wish Booth, with freehand drawings and illustrations, drew attention with its colorful and refreshing visuals. At night, it transforms into a sparkling appearance, capturing the attention of the visitors.

Various exhibitions were held at the Make a Wish Booth. New products from Paris Baguette, SPC Samlip, Baskin Robbins, Dunkin’ Donuts, as well as Boogi Cake— featuring Busan’s popular mascot ‘Boogi’ — were also introduced. Boogie Cake is a limited-edition cake that was released only in Busan and Gyeongsangnamdo province in September last year to promote the bid to host the World EXPO 2030 Busan. This cake features the seagull Boogi, symbolizing the city of Busan. At this event, the ‘Boogie with Fireworks Cake’, renewed in line with the festivals in Busan such as the World EXPO 2030 Busan Korea Concert BTS and Busan Fireworks Festival in October last year, caught people’s attention. In addition, through the Wish for Local map, the current status of the Happy Mutual Growth Project, introducing products using local agricultural products, was revealed; moreover, a message wall containing the citizens’ wishes to host the World EXPO 2030 Busan was also erected.

Wish for Taste event offered key products from Paris Baguette, SPC Samlip, Baskin Robbins, and Dunkin’ Donuts as prizes
The Wish for Taste event held at the SPC Make a Wish Booth provided citizens with Paris Baguette bagels, Samlip Full Moon Cake, Baskin Robbins Block Packs, and Dunkin’ Donuts for writing cheering messages and participating in the Gacha Game.
Happy Face event for creating a cheering card by pasting eyes, nose, and mouth on bread-shaped postcards
In addition, the Happy Face event distributed kits to people to freely express themselves using eyes, nose, and mouth on round bread-shaped (donut or bagel-shaped) postcards for creating cards supporting the World EXPO 2030 Busan. The creativity of citizens on top of the cheering messages added to the fun of the booth.
Wish For EXPO event imparts the message supporting the World EXPO 2030 Busan
The Wish For EXPO event, which was held regularly, was operated so that all participants could receive a sticky note at the information desk and send a message supporting Expo in Busan. People’s earnest requests could be seen in messages, “Hoping for Busan’s successful bid to host the Expo”, “Leaping towards a new Busan”, “Wishing for its success for limitless development of Korea”, etc.
SPC personnel communicated that “In order to contribute even a little to attracting world-class events in the international city of Busan, we participated in the event at Gwanghwamun Square”, adding that “We will continue to promote the World EXPO 2030 Busan through citizen-oriented publicity campaigns”. In addition, SPC has been displaying videos showing the Busan Expo logo and cheering phrases on digital menu boards installed in a total of 6,350 offline stores nationwide, including Paris Baguette, Baskin Robbins, Dunkin’ Donuts, Pascucci, and Jamba Juice to actively form a consensus among citizens in support of the World EXPO 2030 Busan.
