The Safety Management Committee established by SPC Group for the safety of workers visited SPL located in Pyeongtaek on 22nd November, and examined the site and held a meeting with the union to hear the workers out. Gap-yeong Jeong, the chairman of the Safety Management Committee, and Hyeon-wook Jo, member of the council, visited SPL in the wake of the recent tragedy and examined the premise. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen safety and improve the work environment for workers.

The chairman, Gap-yeong Jeong was briefed about safety measures and checked the completion of corrective actions inside the factory. Besides, he held a dialogue exchange with the labor union regarding problems of the workers. The Safety Management Committee conveyed their intentions of urging the company to improve issues regarding work safety, working environment, and culture.
Gap-Young Jeong, chairman of the Safety Management Committee, said, “during the inspection and dialogue exchange, I could feel a firm faith of the workers in the company to fix and improve the issues.” He added, “Not just industrial safety, we will thoroughly look into rectifying the work environment and increase social responsibility. SPC Group will do its best to bring about changes and reforms to regain the trust of its customers.”
The Motive of the Safety Management Committee and Future Plans
Safety Management Committee met with the representatives of each subsidiary on the 18th of November.
The Safety Management Committee held an official meeting at SPC headquarters. During the first meeting, members of the Committee met with the representatives of the subsidiaries and discussed the role, management plan, and future plans of the Committee and came to a consensus. On 21st November, Ji -won Jeong and Yeong-woo Cheon, members of the Safety Management Committee visited Paris Croissant and Shany’s factories in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do, inspected the location, and held a meeting with the labor union.
Ji-won Jeong, a member of the SPC Safety Management Council, and Yeong-woo Cheon visited Paris Croissant factory in Seongnam city, on 21st November to conduct a site inspection and conference with the workers. .
In order to reinforce safety measures, SPC has been conducting industrial safety inspections through external consulting agencies. SPC has been conducting corrective measures step by step and safety inspections have been completed for 24 production facilities out of the 28.
The Safety Management Committee will announce reform measures after the inspection of all factories has been completed by the end of November. Even afterward, SPC will keep discussing on various areas including industrial safety, working environment, and social responsibility through regular meetings.
