SPC’s bakery brand Paris Baguette announced on March 30, 2023 that it had invited Canadian Ambassador-designate in Korea and related officials to its visiting experience event for ‘Twice Chewy Bagel’ which is made of high-quality Canadian wheat.

Paris Baguette has arranged a meaningful event to introduce the ‘Twice Chewy Bagel’ which the brand has developed using its own technology and research, to the embassy and officials from Canada, known as the home of bagels. Montreal in Canada is appraised as one of the top 2 cities famous for bagels, along with New York in the US.

The event, held on March 30, 2023, at Paris Baguette Gangnam Seocho store, was attended by Tamara Mawhinney, Ambassador-designate of the Canadian Embassy in Korea, Dean Dias, CEO of Cereals Canada, and Jin-soo Hur, President of SPC.

The invitees from the Canadian Embassy in Korea tasted 5 types of ‘Twice Chewy Bagel’ from Paris Baguette and five types of cream cheese developed to harmonize with bagels, and listened to the explanations about the product development process, customer response, and the status of using Canadian ingredients. The Canadian wheat used in ‘Twice Chewy Bagel’ is produced in a sustainable method and provides excellent quality when used in baking.

Tamara Mawhinney, Ambassador-designate of the Canadian Embassy in Korea, said, “Bagel is Canadians’ one of the favorite bread, and I was surprised by Paris Baguette’s superb technology in maintaining the bagel’s unique chewy textures and enhancing the flavor. Paris Baguette recently opened its first store in Canada, and as this year marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Korea and Canada, I hope it will serve as an important milestone for strengthening the relationship.”

Jin-soo Hur, President of SPC, said, “I am thrilled to introduce the products and technology of Paris Baguette to the officials from the Canadian Embassy in Korea and Cereals Canada. We will make continued efforts to become a popular brand in the global market beyond Korea through unceasing R&D and investment efforts in taste and quality.”

Meanwhile, ‘Twice Chewy Bagel,’ which was launched by Paris Baguette last February, has been sold more than 2 million units within a month of its launch, gaining a great popularity.
